Santa stopped by😊

❄️πŸŽ„❄️πŸŽ„❄️πŸŽ„❄️πŸŽ„❄️πŸŽ„❄️πŸŽ„❄️πŸŽ„❄️πŸŽ„❄️πŸŽ„❄️πŸŽ„❄️
Isn’t this guy adorable? I got to work on this panel top last week..I had to do a little free motion quilting on the snowflakes as I was quilting it. Not sure if my client just forgot to stitch them down or maybe she thought the quilting would secure them. Either way it only took a few extra minutes to outline stitch them down. I could only do what was in my path as I rolled the quilt.

❄️Just a simple panel with a couple borders added and a little bit of snowflake AppliquΓ© ❄️

I quilted it with a panto design called Apricot Moons Christmas Tree πŸŽ„ by Urban Elementz. The pattern is only a 6” wide pattern...perfect for a panel size quilt.

❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
Mrs. Mary P. Of Jacksonville Arkansas pieced this for a Christmas gift for a niece. Not sure I’d be able to part with this big guy 😊

Christmas was in the house todayπŸŽ„

One of my best friends, Missy P., came over today to help me quilt her little panel quilts that she will be gifting for Christmas gifts... And she spared no expense when she picked out the backing fabrics....Yummy, fluffy, velvety soft minkee fabrics.... I might just have to make myself a snuggle quilt just so I can put this on the back side. It’s seriously to die for. She and her mom, Mrs. Juanita got these put together for her grandkids and great nephews....

I absolutely am loving the snowmen quilt... Snowmen are my favorite for Christmas... Santa’s not bad...I’ve just always loved Snowmen ⛄️

I got two done with this blue fuzzy minkee.

And look at how yummy that backing fabric looks. I learned a long time ago that when you’re quilting a minkee backing on a longarm that you CAN NOT stretch the backing as tight as you would normally do because if you do, when you take it off the longarm it will scrunch up like an accordion and nothing you do will make it lay flat. Ask me... abuse I know. Lol πŸ˜‚

I just
quilted them with a freehanded loop and swirl... since we could get several tops on the backings she bought, we thought it would be faster and easier to free float the tops and do them one after another.

Isn’t this Santa cute?😍

πŸ’—⛄️πŸ’—

Panels make great gifts, all you really need to do is maybe add a border or possibly cut the squares apart then maybe add a small border or two. Makes the perfect size for a toddler or a pre teen.

And just look at how stinkin cute the backing isπŸ˜πŸ’—

Clue 2 of Good Fortune Mystery

Clue 2 is now in progress. Had to take a little 2 day off due to a migraine brought on by the shift in the weather. Unfortunately I can tell when the weather is going to change in a big way...by my head😬Lucky for me I have a medicine that’s supposed to help but it’s SUPER EXPENSIVE so I only take it if its really bad but I waited a little too long before I took it so I paid the price. 😬

Oh well, today was better so I managed to get a few dozen of my HST’s done.πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏼

I tried a couple different methods that included Bonnie’s Essential Tool and my Accuquilt die cutter. Although my die wasn’t the exact size I needed I can still trim them down to the EXACT size they should be, which might be better for me in the long run.
 With the Essential toolπŸ‘πŸ»

Some of my purple HST’s ready for pressing on my Steamfast 680....I don’t think I will ever be without one of these. I love how easy it is to press blocks without having to worry about distorating them. And his model has 5 heat settings: nylon, silk, wool, cotton and linen. I usually use the wool setting for my cottons. The cotton setting gets pretty dang hot ans I don’t want to take a chance and scald whatever I’m working on.

πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

With the Accuquilt die system. These will need to be trimmed down to the specific size needed. I know I can trim them down with my Easy Square ruler but since I’ve been taking a series of classes using the Deb Tucker rulers I’m probably going to use one of my Tucker Trimmers.
I wasn’t sure about using PURPLE πŸ’œ in the place of the blue but I think it’s going to be just fine. Besides I had a lot more purple in my stash than I did blue so why not. https://quiltville.blogspot.com/2018/12/mystery-monday-link-up-part-2.html

Bonnie Hunter Good Fortune Mystery

Finally Good Friday came and that meant Bonnie Hunter released the first clue to this years mystery. Here are the colors I’m going with...I took out the blue and added purple. Bonnie’s colors were red, orange, green, blue and a neutral color of cream/white. I’m not a big fan of blue so I really didn’t have enough blues in my stash so I went with purple, which I had plenty of. Lol 😝
Her inspiration colors came from one of her recent trips to China. I’ve started two of her other mysteries but haven’t got very far with them for one reason or another so I’m determined to get this one done because the size is more manageable for me right now.

The first clue came out on Good Friday but I was super busy longarm quilting then I rode my horse for a few hours on Saturday and worked on memory t shirt quilts all day Sunday... Had to do more longarm quilting Monday that came to a complete stop when my longarm needed some repair.
Thankfully I had a replacement needle up/needle down button...a mere $3.50 part that can shut the entire operation down in a hurry. So after it was replaced I hurriedly finished a quilt for a client, delivered it less than a few miles down the street and got back home to dinner. I managed to burn 3 fingers yesterday on my Steampress machine while I was fusing stabilizer onto the backs of the tee shirts. So I was running at a slower pace today. Hopefully I can at least get my reds and creams cut and pieced into the four patches needed for clue 1.
Only need to make a couple hundred or so ...lol 😳😬πŸ€ͺ

4 years later...

Well here I am after what looks to be a 4 year absence...Why you ask? Lord only knows but too much has happened to go back and rehash all that stuff.
So I’m gonna just start from here.
I’ve been happily longarm quilting, riding my pony, being a Mom to not only my now 25year old son but my now 7yr old Frenchie, his kitty Daisy and my sons rescue cat Moose.

My quilting obsession is in overdrive.
I’ve got several vintage sewing machines that I’m in love with. Including two treadle machines. One is a 1902 Singer in a beautiful parlor cabinet that all I had to do was dust off.
She dated July/December 1902 and her cabinet is original. Her decals on the bed are a little silvered but she purrs like a kitty. She is a 27K model. All I really had to do was change her belt.. Hard to believe she’s 116 years old. All I can say is that someone really loved her.  I found her in a little town not too far from here. I paid $75 dollars to a young man and his Mom who said the machine had belonged to her Aunt that had just passed away at 98 years old and that the machine belonged to her Mom. Kinda creepy if you think about it.
Well as long as it doesn’t start treadling by itself I’m good with it residing in my Quilt Cave.

The other treadle is a 1914 Minnesota A....it sews beautiful but I had to completely strip the cabinet. All she needs is a good varnish put back on her.

Do I look happy or what?

This is what it looked like before I stripped her...

She came with the original manual!

Somehow I also acquired a few other machines, including a 1948 15-91 Singer electric sewing machine.. She came in a Queen Ann parlor cabinet. She was gifted by a family friend that had recently lost her 90 something year old mother. The machine was given to her mom for her 1950 Christmas Day wedding...I named her Lady Kathryn after the original owner, Katheryn James.

The main reason I started back with my blog was to share my quilting .... I recently participated in one of my local quilt guilds biannual quilt show. I was pleasantly surprised when two of my miniature quilts won ribbons. My 11” Double Wedding Ring won 1st place. Then my Mini Tumbling 9 Patch won 3rd place. My boss that owns the quilt shop that I volunteer in won 2nd place in the Miniature group.

Welcome to my Quilt Cave...I created this blog to promote my services and assist my customers in picking out their quilting patterns. I've been quilting/piecing since 2001 and longarm quilting since 2007 when the quilt shop I work at acquired a Gammill Longarm. In December of 2011 my husband surprised me with my very own Gammill.
Quilting a commissioned T-shirt quilt on a Gammill Longarm at Pinwheel Fabrics where I've worked since 2007!
Shortly after it was delivered and set up in January of 2012 we sold our house a lot quicker than expected and were forced to live in a rent house with no room for my new baby so she had to be broken down and stored until we moved into our new home. But that did not stop me from Longarm quilting as I continued to quilt for the customers of the quilt shop that I worked at! I moved into my new home in November of 2012 and have been Longarm quilting on my new Gammill ever since then and I LOVE it!
At this time I offer all over pantograph quilting for my clients.
